The San Diego Festival Chorus is accepting applications for the position of Music Director. We seek a dynamic individual interested in supporting our mission of learning and performing a variety of choral music.

About the Chorus. Founded in 2001, the San Diego Festival Chorus is a large non-audition chorus which fosters the singing ability of its members and provides high-quality live music to the community. The chorus performs two major concerts each year, one in December and one in the Spring. Each concert consists of two parts: 1) a significant classical choral work (e.g. Rutter’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria) performed with a full orchestra and 2) a program of popular music built around a theme, such as Christmas carols and songs, Broadway music, gospel, or patriotic songs, performed with appropriate instrumentation. The Chorus also performs several outreach concerts each year. The chorus rehearses in East County every Monday evening during the school year.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have significant experience in leading a full SATB chorus and orchestra and in working with singers of varying ability levels and from all walks of life. The musical director also works closely with the Board of Directors in many aspects of Chorus management, including development of program themes and budgeting of concert production costs.

Compensation: A modest stipend is offered.
