San Diego Festival Chorus

Dear Friends of San Diego Festival Chorus and website visitors:

I would like to extend a personal invitation to attend our coming concert. This performance should be one of our best! We have selected George Frederic Handel’s “Messiah” (Christmas portion) programmed in keeping with Handel’s 250th birthday celebration.

Ludwig Von Beethoven, after hearing a performance of the “Messiah” said, “Handel is the greatest composer of our time, anyone not hearing this wonderful creation should not be allowed to enter Heaven”. Now you will have a chance to do both by attending this celebrated performance planned for Sunday December 13th at 3:00PM. The concert will take place in the beautiful Sanctuary of the College Avenue Baptist Church in San Diego. CA. Our 80 voice chorus will feature top vocal soloists from the greater San Diego area and will be accompanied by our 48-piece symphony orchestra. As a special part of this performance, we will invite our audience to join in the singing of the “Hallelujah Chorus”. Please bring your music along and join us in this grand finale!

Also scheduled for performance will be an upbeat work by composer Mark Brymer, entitled “The Christmas Suite” The selections include imaginative and fanciful arrangements of popular Christmas carols that will help usher in the holiday season.

Included in the program will be “Ose Shalom” (He who Brings Peace) a hauntingly beautiful piece composed by John Leavitt to help celebrate the Hanukah season. This work was performed several years ago by our chorus and is again being programmed by popular request. This selection also recently received standing ovations during chorus’ recent concert tour of Italy. It will be sung in Hebrew.

Concert attendees will also have an opportunity to see, hear and purchase a two DVD set of the San Diego Festival Chorus’ Italy Concert Tour at intermission. The DVD set includes a wonderful travelogue of places visited and segments of the music performed including our performance at the Vatican in Saint Peter’s Basilica that was attended by over 800 people.

Think of it, where can you see and hear this kind of live presentation featuring over 115 performers for the average price of a movie ticket?

You can get tickets and information by calling 951-699-7478, or just click on "Buy Tickets" to purchase them online.

Remember, tickets to our performance make great holiday gifts! Keep music alive!

I hope you will join us!

Happy Holidays,

Anthony V. Mostardo
